march 2025 round-up
Trying to keep a more permanent trace of the things that I'm thinking with, in the spirit of scavenging, and in the spirit of sharing! So here are some things I enjoyed reading/watching/listening to in March:
people writing in fun gothic ways: Marx's "gelatinous blob" (in the new translation of Capital), Césaire's "communion wafer dipped in shit" in Discourse on Colonialism, Sivanandan's "fascist maggots" crawling out of "the decaying capitalist matter" in "From resistance to rebellion")
for work, I've been thinking about haunting again, with Gordon, and read this 2020 interview with her which I think would be a good entry point if you're not familiar with her work!
Ongoing collective attempts at understanding the current conjuncture: this episode of The Dig, this article on the "Silicon Reich"
The Internet ™ what is happening to it, and what I can do to change my own engagement with it: this series on the web revival, this article especially what it said about hyperlinks (as you might gather from this very post, I love hyperlinks), this video essay, and this website
I read Sophie Lewis's new book, Enemy Feminisms and it was brilliant. You should read it too (and in the meantime listen to her speak about it here)
Finally, this podcast discussing this article by Ariel Ajeno, the relationship between consent and revolutionary politics, consent operating by foreclosing certain possibilities... still thinking about this one.
Until next month!
